Résidence Teatro da Vertigem

Dans le cadre du festival Europalia, le Teatro da Vertigem (« théâtre du vertige », 1992, Sao Paulo) est en résidence Vrac/L’Escaut du 6 au 19 janvier.
Cette résidence s’inscrit dans un projet d’échanges avec le Brésil mené conjointement par l’agence d’architecture L’Escaut et le collectif des arts de la scène Vrac depuis plus d’un an.
Ce projet a été suscité par le festival Europalia et la présence dans l’équipe de L’Escaut de Raquel Morais, architecte et scénographe brésilienne.
Il représente une extension de la dynamique existante dans le bâtiment industriel où l’agence d’architecture est implantée depuis 1989: les espaces libres permettent le développement de projets culturels sous la forme de résidences et d’ateliers.
Le Teatro da Vertigem construit sa dramaturgie à partir du terrain et de l’étude de problématiques sociétales à Sao Paulo, leurs représentations prennent place dans des lieux non conventionnels. Dans BR-3 par exemple, la scène est le rio Tiêté. Le public pouvait ainsi jouir d’un nouveau regard sur le fleuve, habituellement exclu des vitalités urbaines.
La résidence Vrac/L’Escaut représente un déplacement de leur pratique à Bruxelles. Elle est articulée par des moments de rencontres ouverts au public:
6/01 - 18h30: Open Cachaça - Inauguration.
9/01 - 18h30: Fonctionnement de la culture, échanges à partir d'une présentation de la situation en Belgique.
13/01 - 18h30: Table ronde dédiée à des thèmes de recherche identifiés par Vertigem: la prostitution, la mobilité/immobilité dans la ville et les ressentiments sociaux et scissions internes.
19/01 - 18h30: Table ronde à partir du déplacement comme matière artistique. Soirée de clôture.

In het kader van het Europalia festival is het Teatro da Vertigem (1992, Sao Paulo) in residentie Vrac/L’Escaut van 6 tot 19 januari.
De residentie maakt deel uit van een uitwisselingsproject met Brazilië dat sinds meer dan een jaar door het architectenbureau L’Escaut en het podiumkunstencollectief Vrac geleid wordt.
De uitgangspunten van dit project zijn het Europalia festival dat dit jaar in het teken van Brazilië staat en de aanwezigheid van Raquel Morais bij L’Escaut, een Braziliaanse architecte en scenografe.
Het project is een uitbreiding van de bestaande dynamiek in het industrieel gebouw waar het architectenbureau sinds 1989 gevestigd is. De vrije ruimtes laten het toe hier culturele projecten te ontwikkelen onder de vorm van residenties en ateliers.
Het Teatro da Vertigem vertrekt voor zijn dramaturgie vanuit het terrein en de studie van maatschappelijke vragen in Sao Paulo. Hun voorstellingen hebben plaats in niet-conventionele ruimtes ; zo werd b.v. de rivier Tiêté het decor voor het toneelstuk BR-3. De vervuilde rivier werd aan de hand van lichten poëtisch vertolkt en het publiek kon genieten van een vernieuwde blik op deze rivier.
De residentie Vrac/L’Escaut betekent een verplaatsing van hun artistieke praktijk naar Brussel en wordt gearticuleerd door publieke ontmoetingsmomenten:
6/01 - 18u30: Open Cachaça - Opening.
9/01 - 18u30: uitwisseling over de culturele werking.
13/01 - 18u30: ronde-tafelconferentie gewijd aan onderzoeksthema’s die door Vertigem geïdentificeerd worden: prostitutie, mobiliteit/immobiliteit in de stad en sociale wrokken en interne splitsingen.
19/01 - 18u30: deze ronde-tafelconferentie stelt de vraag hoe een artistieke praktijk de verplaatsing opneemt. Deze sluit eveneens de residentie af.

As part of the Europalia festival, the Teatro da Vertigem (1992, Sao Paulo) is in residence Vrac/L’Escaut from the 6th until the 19th of January.
This residence is part of an exchange project with Brazil led by the architecture office L’Escaut and the living arts collective Vrac since more than one year.
The principles of this project are the Europalia festival organized within the theme of Brazil this year and the presence of Raquel Morais at L’Escaut, a Brazilian architect and scenographer.
The project is an extension of existing dynamics in the former industrial building where the architecture office is established since 1989. The open spaces allow the development of cultural projects in the form of residences and workshops.
Teatro da Vertigem usually composes its dramaturgy from the field and the study of societal issues in Sao Paulo. Their plays take place in unconventional places; the setting for their play BR-3 for example was the Tiêté River. The public could enjoy a new look onto the river which usually was excluded from urban vitalities.
The residence Vrac/L’Escaut represents a movement of their artistic practices to Brussels and is articulated by public meeting moments:
6/01 - 6:30 pm: Open Cachaça. Opening.
9/01 - 6:30 pm: discussion of cultural working.
13/01 – 6:30 pm: round table discussion dedicated to research topics identified by Vertigem: prostitution, mobility/immobility in the city and social resentments and intern splits.
19/01 - 6:30 pm: round table discussion from the movement as an artistic material. This is also the closing event of the residence.
