Arts du spectacle
En 2009, L'Escaut fait peau neuve afin d'accueillir le collectif VRAC; une rencontre improbable qui "prend" directement, avec l'envie de confronter l'architecture et les arts de la scène là même où ils se créent.
Depuis, Vrac gère la location des locaux disponibles à L'Escaut. Le troisième étage, en l'occurence, dispose d'un plancher de danse. Françoise Berlanger et Charlie Degotte, entre autres, y ont répété leurs spectacles.

En 2002, le CIFAS (Centre International de Formation des Arts du Spectacle) s'installe à l'Escaut, il y organise des stages de formation pour des professionnels, ainsi que des rencontres et lectures de textes. L'Escaut a vu passer des metteurs en scène invités par le Cifas, comme Galin Stoev, Edward Bond ou Marc Liebens, des danseurs comme Simone Forti, et bien d'autres encore.
Les plateaux ont été le lieu de nombreux stages de formation et répétitions de spectacle, ainsi que de petites mises en scène, lectures de texte, projection de films.

Expositions
Depuis sa création jusqu'en 1995, l'Escaut a organisé plusieurs expositions en association avec la galerie Koma de Mons. Quelques moments forts incluent l'intervention de Francis Alÿs, qui accrocha un millier d'escargots aux plafonds du premier étage. Par ailleurs, la dimension du lieu a permis des collaborations internationales avec la France, l'Allemagne et l'Angleterre. Ainsi Denis Pondruel, Marie-Odile Candas Salmon, ou Klaus Von Bruch ont occupé les lieux avec des oeuvres dont certaines ayant été présentées dans d'autres centres d'art contemporains de grande envergure.
Depuis, quelques expos ont été organisées ponctuellement. Elles découlent à chaque fois de la proximité à l'égard d'une démarche d'artistes, et de la volonté de ceux-ci de s'approprier le lieu et y faire naître un projet. Ainsi, Doris Kuwert a occupé le bâtiment pendant 3 semaines avec ses installations en 2003, et Valérie Mannaerts a profité du rez de chaussée pendant 1 mois pour y développer son travail en 2004. Quelques écoles, dont la section de Art Urbain de L'ENSAV la Cambre et l'ERG ont exposé leurs jurys de fin d'année dans le bâtiment.

Podiumkunsten
In 2009 werd L’Escaut in een nieuw kleedje gestoken om het collectief VRAC te verwelkomen. VRAC/L’Escaut komt voort uit een onwaarschijnlijke ontmoeting die direct aanslaat, met het verlangen architectuur en de podiumkunsten te confronteren op de plek waar ze ontstaan.
Sindsdien beheert de Vrac de verhuur van de beschikbare ruimtes op l’Escaut. De derde verdieping is uitgerust met een dansvloer. Onder andere Françoise Berlanger en Charlie Degotte hebben hier hun voorstellingen voorbereid.

Van 2002 tot 2006 huisvest l'Escaut het CIFAS (Centre International de Formation des Arts du Spectacle). Ze organiseren hier stages voor beroepsmensen uit de theaterwereld, ontmoetingen en lezingen van teksten. L'Escaut heeft een heel aantal gastregisseurs van het CIFAS over de vloer gehad, waaronder Galin Stoev, Edward Bond of Marc Liebens en daarnaast mensen uit de danswereld zoals Simone Forti en nog vele anderen.
Het gebouw heeft onderdak geboden aan talrijke opleidingsstages en evenals aan opvoeringen voor een klein publiek, lezingen, filmprojecties.

Tentoonstellingen
Vanaf de oprichting tot in 1995, heeft l'Escaut verschillende tentoonstellingen georganiseerd in samenwerking met galerij Koma in Bergen. De interventie van Francis Alÿs betekent één van de hoogtepunten. Hij bevestigt een duizendtal slakken aan het plafond van de eerste verdieping. De omvang van de plek laat internationale samenwerkingen met Frankrijk, Duitsland en Engeland toe. Op die manier hebben Denis Pondruel, Marie-Odile Candas Salmon, of Klaus Von Bruch werken getoond waarvan sommige reeds tentoongesteld waren in andere belangrijke centra voor hedendaagse kunst.
Sedertdien werden er nog af en toe tentoonstellingen georganiseerd. Deze vloeien telkens voort uit een nabijheid ten opzichte van een kunstenaar en zijn of haar wil zich de plaats eigen te maken en er een project te laten ontstaan.

Performing Arts
In 2009, l’Escaut has welcomed the VRAC collective into the building and our practice. It’s a hopeful bet: that by confronting architecture and performing arts right were they are created, they will contaminate and inform each other. Since February, the two groups share the space and welcome other people and projects through collaborations and the rental of the rehearsing spaces.

In 2002, the CIFAS (International Centre for Education in Performing Arts) installed their offices in the building. They organised workshops for professional artists, as well as lectures and round tables in the building. They invited Theatre directors such as Galin Stoev, Edward Bond ou Marc Liebens, and dancers, amongst them Simone Forti, and many others.
Numerous workshops and show rehearsals have taken place in the building, as well as small theatre pieces, readings, film projections...
The third floor has a dance friendly wooden floor. Françoise Berlanger et Charlie Degotte have rehearsed lately in l'Escaut.

Exhibitions
In its first years, L'Escaut organised several exhibitions in association with the Koma gallery of Mons. The highlights included Francis Alÿs show, which featured a thousand snails on the ceiling of the first floor. Some international collaborations with France, Germany and England allowed artists such as Denis Pondruel, Marie-Odile Candas Salmon or Klaus Von Bruch to occupy the space with their work.
Since then, some exhibitions have been organised occasionally. They usually evolve around a proximity with the artist's work, and their desire to inhabit the space and develop their work in it. In 2003, Doris Kuwert ocupied the building with her installations for three weeks, and Valérie Mannaerts used the ground floor for a month in 2004 as a workshop. Some schools, including l'ENSAV la Cambre and l'ERG have used the building to present their students' works.
